As an activity, I believe design is any and all things done to negotiate between reality and that-which-could-be [possibility]. Possibility refers to anything which is imagined and desired. What are the ethics of this negotiation? I was disappointed at the lack of information available on design ethics. So, I did what any well-meaning creative does: I went back to school to find out more. I developed an ethical guide I can aspire toward in my design practice. It is meant to provide broad and fluid—not fixed and rigid—guidance for my practice. It is meant to give me hope. What I’ve created is undoubtedly deeply personal, but I have grounded it in enough theory to a presents consideration or inspiration for others who read it.
